A University of Queensland Medical School graduate, Dr Newbigin completed her radiology training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with fellowship training in Cardiac Imaging and Chest imaging in Ottawa, Canada.

Dr Newbigin holds level III accreditation with the Society of Cardiac MRI and has level A CTCA accreditation. She is also accredited in TAVR work up and is an integral part of the Wesley TAVR team. Dr Newbigin is a member of the Society of Thoracic Radiology and performs thoracic interventions, including lung biopsies.

Dr Newbigin has an interest in pneumoconiosis and is formally recognised by RANZCR to have appropriate training to report coal workers pneumoconiosis screening according to ILO standards. Current areas of research interest include; interstitial lung disease and the use of cardiac MRI to understand cardiomyopathies.
